Error codes
Most atc failures print a stable ATC-Exxxx code. Some print
plain error: text with no code: a command-line usage error, such
as an unknown flag or a missing subcommand, which exits with status
2, and a failed atc --release-notes, which exits with status 1.
The chapters
below group the codes the CLI assigns by the part of the workflow
they come from. The same lookup works offline on any machine with
atc installed:
atc error explain <code>
- Configuration (atc.toml) — 11 codes
- Push, versions and deliveries — 18 codes
- Devices and connectivity (bootstrap, ssh) — 19 codes
- OCI images and builds — 24 codes
- Internal (store, protocol, I/O) — 9 codes
Code ranges
A code in none of the chapters comes from a lower layer. The range
names its owner; atc error explain gives the same answer offline:
